At first we had planned on shooting at a small local garden in San Francisco and we had arranged a time to meet with one of the co-op owners, but he flaked (I know, big surprise) so we ended up driving across the bay to Marin and drove around the Headlands area to find various locations to shoot at.

We ended up finding a couple nice spots, old bunkers, eucalyptus groves, and military storage facilities. It was great shooting there and making use of the beautiful natural light provided by an unusually sunny fall afternoon. Before dropping her off back home we went passed the garden, which was closed earlier, to find out someone was there now and we made use of the opportunity and shot a few series of images.

First she was late getting to the South Bay because of evening traffic, then the lighting we were going to use somehow was forgotten, and we were running out of sunlight quickly. With all this to consider I decided we’d head over to the coast and try and get in a last minute beach shoot.

We ended up coming up to a cove about 20 minutes north of Santa Cruz and just getting the last 5 minutes of sunlight left. These are the results of that quick shoot.
