The Flaming Lips @ Sasquatch Music Festival – 2008.05.26

Sometime in the early hours of the morning it had appeared. Reflecting back images of ourselves all day as we peered up to the sky…

The Mars Volta @ Sasquatch Music Festival – 2008.05.26

As soon as they came out on stage, the lead singer ran for the drum kit, grabbed a cymbal with its stand, and tossed it about 15 feet into the crowd.

Battles @ Sasquatch Music Festival – 2008.05.26

One band I had kept hearing about all weekend at the press tent was this group called Battles. Not getting a chance to check them out prior to the festival I found myself at their set on the Wookie stage and being completely blown away at how skillfully tight a band these guys were. Ex-Helmet [...]

Built To Spill @ Sasquatch Music Festival – 2008.05.26

There was a moment while I was in the photo pit and on one side of me were the band just merely playing their songs, while just 6 feet away was a wave of people jumping up and down, singing along, and things just seemed to make sense.

The Cure @ Sasquatch Music Festival – 2008.05.25

The Cure played a remarkable set just short of 3 hours, playing most of their hits and even a good mix of newer material for the Sasquatch Main Stage crowd. I missed the regulatory “first three songs, no flash” in the pit because I was watching the end of Malkmus’ set, so I had to [...]

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks @ Sasquatch Music Festival – 2008.05.25

Malkmus and the Jicks took the stage a lot later than expected due to the Kooks playing into their time slot. They cut quite a bit into the Jicks’ time so they were forced to setup and go in under 15 minutes. A task which they happily complied with considering they were the last act [...]

Death Cab For Cutie @ Sasquatch Music Festival – 2008.05.25

Death Cab For Cutie hit the stage just as the sun was beginning to set behind the gorge that night. The combination of the setting sunlight, their intense lights, and the fog machines wisping out streams of smoke made for an incredible atmosphere. At one point I even stopped shooting photos to just take in [...]

Mates of State @ Sasquatch Music Festival – 2008.05.25

Mates of State will always have a tender spot in my heart. In high school I used to see these guys play house shows, at delis, and clubhouses all over the Bay Area. It’s hard to imagine that that was all almost 10 years ago! Pretty surreal that they just appeared on Good Morning America [...]

The Presidents Of The United States @ Sasquatch Music Festival – 2008.05.25

One band I didnt expect to see at all this weekend were POTUSA. Of course I had remembered their hits when I was younger like Peaches and Lump, but I never thought they’d still be around and rocking. They commanded the crowds attention and put on a really fun and energetic show.

Rogue Wave @ Sasquatch Music Festival – 2008.05.25

Rogue Wave are local California Bay Area indie-rockers who I was excited to get a chance to see. They play a lot around here, but for one reason or another I have yet to see them live. I really liked what I heard and will definitely be checking them out again.
